Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

My skimmer fits good. It’s $150. I think I might do it.
Do it!!!

Oh I know. It’s a budget build. I have ecotech, maxspect and reef octo pumps on my main tank. I expect to replace the jebao’s yearly, if I get longer than a year I’ll consider it a bonus. They are insured through amazon for 3 years so I should be set.
That's not bad. Mine was insured for s year through Amazon and they told me to shove off when it died in 8-9 months

All jokes aside, I did wonder if human blood in the tank would do anything harmful. I cut my finger in the tank a few weeks ago and it made me wonder.
Just make some very hungry fish.

I got bit by a little white cheek moray in my predator tank in 97. The whole tank turned blood red. Fish went nuts!

The skimmer went crazy for two days and smelled god awful. After that it was fine.

My thumb however...

@tdlawdo If a human is on antibiotics, it could be transferred via a cut? Just a curiosity.

Yes but the concentration of the antibiotic in the blood is so small...mic (mean inhibitory concentrations) are on the order of picograms and so to them have that dissipated into that water I don’t think it would even be measurable. Now if we are talking chemo there may be a different answer I wound give. I’d be more worried about the reverse contamination. But a good immune system in us and the fish conquers all!!
Immune system uber alles!!

Yeah a dude in my club got a serious MRSA infection from doing that.. Do not put your hands in the tank if you have a cut. The odds are low, the the danger is real. I've seen some NASTY infections over the years from this...

It may be 1:1000 odds, but someone has to win the lotto, and someone has to get the MRSA infection.

Even the IV route might get it to the micro per ml
