Bravest Shrimp Goby or Jawfish?

I just had my very much-loved first saltwater fish a shrimp paired YWG die. Extremely sad. But, I'm looing for a replacement. Regrettably, he was quite shy, almost never saw him.

So.... I was wondering what the bravest fish would be. I would love love love a jawfish, and I have 3+ inches of rough sand, with some finer stuff, and lots of rubble. However, I dont want a fish that will hide 24/7. What's ya'lls thoughts? Other goby/shrimp options are yasha, and all the different varietys of shrimp gobys.

Of the few species I've kept (YWG, yasha, and Randall's), the Randall's have been the least shy by a large margin. I've had one in the last three tanks and all three have always been out.

I really like the look of the Randall. I have a friend whos told me that Yasha's were the bravest, but if you've had three different ones I'm inclined to believe you as all fish act different. By least shy could you tell me what causes him to spook, how often is he out, aggressive feeder, ect.

Yellowheads are pretty shy IMO, but hilarious.

My Yellow head is out all the time it seems. He digs his cave and keeps it clean, but interacts with the rest of the clan quite offten.

Nothing spooks the goby; it's the smallest fish in the tang but nothing goes after it. It has no reason to run off. In regard to the yasha, I've had two and both were very reclusive. I had the YWG for 10 years and the last three I didnt even know it was in the tank. I found it when I was tearing the tank down (gave the setup to a friend when I moved).

Watching them build their burrows, picking up rocks that seem too big for them to pickup, suring their construction up. It's very entertaining

I would like to see some suggestions too. I my case looking for a buddy for my lonely pistol shrimp. I have two hardly ever to be seen... Yellow Watchman, Dracula and a Yasha Goby who jumped out of tank. My Pearl Jawfish and Diamond stayed by himself until they also jumped out of the tank.

my jawfish has his burrow right in the front and he is always ready to come out. his head is out all the time looking for food. he is a tiger jawfish.

My LFS had one and it was in hiding all the time. Technically the Blue Spot Jawfish needs temps a bit cooler than a reef tank to survive long term (hence their poor survivability rate in reef tanks). That and it is too expensive for the amount of time it spends hiding and how long it lasts in a reef tank.

My LFS has multiples and they are never out. Idk but all the fish at my LFS seem braver then when I bring them home.

I get a big Kick out of my hi-fin red banded goby. He's out and about and always a joy to watch. It took him a couple of weeks to get over his shyness but after that, BINGO. I have him paired with a Randall's Pistol Shrimp - Alpheus randalli. They're a real wild pair.

I have 2 pr of Wheeler's gobies with shrimp (different sides of the tank) & a Yellowhead Jawfish in my tank. At least one of the gobies are out most of the time. The shrimp tend to stay inside the home but every once in awhile I have seen one of them cleaning his out. The yellowhead is out all the time unless I walk up to the tank to quick. The yellowhead actually lived in the same home of one pr of gobies & the shrimp until a wk ago when I found one of the gobies had moved to a spot a few inches away, don't know if the other gobie & shrimp have also moved because I haven't seen them out together but once.
