Breakout box Apex or Tunze ATO

My Tunze ATO stopped working yesterday. Now what should I do? go with the breakout box and float switches for my Apex or get another Tunze ATO.

What on it is not working? The pump? If so they do occasionally go out and a replacement pump is about $25. I always keep an extra on hand just in case.

Not the pump got a new one still not working. Just got off the phone with Tunze and will be shipping it to them to be fixed. Still would like to know if the float switch for my apex would be better.

Not sure about that. Personally I hate to rely on one product to run all aspects of my aquarium.

If you have a pump laying around, and you have something to hang the float switch, sure you can make an ATO system out of that. Just need to make sure you don't turn the pump on and off as the float switches change states. Have a delay a few seconds or minutes between on and off of the pump...
