Breeding Clownfish

Hi all,

I am trying to breed my clownfish, one is an DaVinci the other is an Wyoming White. About a month ago I rescaped the aquarium to add the clay pot for breeding.
I have all increased feeding to 3 time a day from once a day. A little history on the fish. I bought two DaVinci Clowns about 6 to 7 years ago. They were both in this tank
for quite some time before one died about 2 years ago. If I remember correctly the female is the one that died, well it was the bigger of the two. So after about a month I got a
Wyoming White, to pair. It was much smaller and still is so I assume it is still a male, I am not sure if the DaVinci changed to a female, or if it ever will. When I had the other DaVinci my plan was to breed them but they never did. Anyone have any tips, or insight, maybe they will never breed? They don't fight they get along peacefully and have been together in the same tank for 2 years or more. I don't have any other fish in the tank, I have tried bubble tip anemones but they don't host it, they prefer they Kenya Tree. The tank is an Innovative Marine Abyss 20 gallons, water parameters are in tolerances.

The good news is the larger of the two would have already become a female. It starts happening as soon as the previous female is no longer around and takes a few months at most. They would also both be sexually mature enough to breed. Females needing to be two years and males only 6 to 12 months.

You are definitely on the right track with having a pot for them to spawn in and feeding them often. However since you reaquascaped and added the pot so recently it may take them some time to adapt and feel comfortable enough to breed.

Do you have any other tank mates in with them? Is there anything in the room around them that might frighten them? What type of food are you feeding? Have you noticed them picking at and cleaning inside the pot?

No other tank mate other than nassarius snails. I don't think they are in a spot that anything can frighten them, actually the tank is in the foyer, away from windows or anything like that. We use the garage so we are rarely there, the only time is when I feed them. I use a combination of foods, Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef, Omega One Marine Pellets/Flakes and variety of San Francisco Bay Frozen foods. They don't seem to be interested in the pot, at least not yet.
