I can vouge for Dr. Mac's coral quality! I made a trip there years ago (about 10) to get some mushrooms and see his facility firsthand after a friend recommended it to me. It was a few hours ride but after entering his aquaculture center I was completely blown away. This was at a time when most all LFS were carrying the same types of corals so it got boring. Frags back then were just coming to market in some sense of abundance but were run of the mill pieces.

The tanks were filled with corals I had never seen before even in many of the Saltwater books and magazines at the time. It was also shocking to see every single piece of coral was not only healthy but thriving. Softies, LPS and SPS were abundant and in colors and species I'd only heard of.

Fast forward 10 years now and I'm seeing corals that weren't even available. I decide to head back down to Dr. Mac's just to see what is now available after visiting his website and see what I might be able to add to my tank. Literally a farm of coral, gorgonians en masse. All kinds of colors of zoas, gonioporas, monti's, branches, torches, hammers, mushrooms, you name it! I intended to walk out with maybe 2-3 pieces and wound up getting about 6 lol. And every single one is still healthy and doing extremely well. My pink and yellow goniopora is super healthy and the purple gorgonian is already growing. The St. Marshall's mushroom was a bit temperamental but is rebounding with new growth. And my orange striped clovers and multi-colored neon green and orange clover have all been great since day one.

Shameless plug? You bet! Dr. Mac gladly showed me all of his tanks and equipment and even gave me a few tips on my protein skimmer which was being a little difficult at the time and has since cleared up. I even got the royal escort by both of his dogs :). Recently had a bad experience from a popular online coral retailer who I won't be doing business with again but rather than bash them I'd rather highlight and offer praise to a business and an owner who always delivers top quality instead. The time and information Dr. Mac offered was exactly what I look for in any business, customer service! I've been in saltwater for over 30 years and when I find a good business I'll gladly sing their praises! And their man made coral is much better than the "dead" live rock you buy in most fish stores!
