I'm puzzled by the differences between Brightwell's Reef Code and Nano Code dosing supplements. The tech specs on Brightwell's website suggest that Nano B is just a more dilute version of Reef B. But Nano A and Reef A (the calcium parts) have different ratios of calcium, magnesium, and strontium. Nano A has double the Mg, with a 40 : 2 : 0.8 Ca : Mg : Sr ratio, while Reef A has a 40: 1 : 0.8 ratio. Plus Nano A includes a whole bunch of other stuff in trace amounts.

I'm thinking about using one of these for my Biocube29, but I'm wondering why nano tanks would have different requirements than larger tanks. Since NanoCode is more expensive on a monthly basis, I'd rather use ReefCode.

Thanks for any insight.

It's not always possible to know why folks do what they do, or if this is even intentional since they seem to get chemistry very confused in several of their products, but I agree it is odd that there is proportionally more magnesium in the Nano product.

Magnesium is a bit of guesswork anyway as different users consume different ratios of calcium to magnesium, and coralline is on the high magnesium end. Does a nano have proportionally more coralline than a larger tank? Maybe. Maybe not.
