Briopsis in macroalgae reef

Hi everyone! I’m new here.



I decided to join the forum because many of the questions I’ve had recently were already answered in the discussions here.

I have a tank with macroalgae and soft corals, and I’ve recently started to notice the first signs of Bryopsis.

I’d like to know if anyone has found an effective way to eliminate it without harming the macroalgae, since most of the treatments I’ve found are broad-spectrum and could affect them.

Has anyone had any experience with a treatment or a predator that works in this kind of setup?

Thanks! It’s a UNS 90 LA (21 gallons), and the lights are Nicrew.
Everything is very simple. Not counting the tank, which I bought on Marketplace, and the stand, which is from IKEA, I don’t think I spent more than $400, not including livestock.
• $60 – SLW 3 Jebao wavemaker
• $60 – ATO
• $80 – Hygger Titanium Heater and controller
• $50 – Sicce 1.5 return pump
• $80 – Light
• $20 – Hanger kit
• $50 – IOAOI Skimmer en

Everything came from Amazon.

I plan to only add a dosing pump for Chaeto Grow by Brightwell, and maybe Neophos and Neonitrate.
It’s incredible how efficient algae are at consuming phosphate and nitrate.
I have to dose every other day just to keep them detectable — if I skip one dose, everything drops to 0.0.

Besides that, I only add 0.5 ml of All-for-Reef, and it keeps my alk, Ca, and Mg stable.
It’s been running for four months without a single water change.

I did invest a lot in was bacteria.
I started with Dr. Tim’s One and Only, Brightwell MB7, and AF Life Source.
After a month, I added everything you see in the tank, and haven’t had a single problem so far, just a small Bryopsis outbreak on the base of some Zoanthids.

That’s a fun set up. I have a 20 long that just got wet with a 20 long sump. It’s gonna be low flow softy with skimmer only. It’s comprised of items and materials I already have

I have had macro survive fluxRX but your mileage may vary. It took care of the bryopsis though.

I have a lot of different macro algae in my tank. I also had Briopsis starting to take hold. That was 3 weeks ago. I have no briopsis today and my macro looks great! I have 57 gallons total water volume. I did a micro dose treatment of Reef Flux. It was less than 1/2 of a capsule. I used a level Chemiclean spoon full. The briopsis started turning white within a few days. Was completely gone in a week. My Alk consumption never dropped, it increased over the past few weeks. Sps are all growing. I see zero harm.
