Bristle worms keep showing up on my clam

i got a small maxima clam for my 33g last Thursday and it seems perfectly healthy however in the mornings and at night I’ve seen a total of 4 on it and 1 several weeks before I had it, I’ve killed all the ones I’ve seen on the clam but couldn’t find the bigger one again, does anyone know if they are dangerous to the clam and what to do about them

You could put t on a rock to elevate it. Wont be as easy to get to. But ime bristles only go after ill clams.

If bristle worms are on your clam, I hate to say it, but that clam isn't going to make it.

Unfortunately the clam is most likely in poor health, an open mantle can be a false indicator. Never had bristleworms go after or bother healthy tridacna.

What do you think could be wrong with it, all my tests are coming back clean and I can't see anything visually wrong? If you have ideas please also mention treatments

I don't se any new growth on the clam so I'm sure it wasnt doing to well when before you bought it. That's a maxima and they require a lot of light. Not much you can really do, maybe try to move it up in more light.

Hard to give it to much light to be honest, as long as you raise it slowly.

Oh. They go on rocks. They encrust in a way. That could be a lot of the issues your having.

Moved the clam as suggested to here but worried about anemone stinging it but no other place I can put it half way up

Ok I’ve moved it half way up the tank if it doesn’t seem happy there I’ll move it here

Perfect! They can encrust quick! Mine encrusted in a matter of hours once I put it on a rock. So pick what you will be happy with long term lol.

I’ll experiment with a few diffrent spited till it’s happy but the spot it was just in it almost fell so I moved it up thanks for the advice

Light is a aqua one mariglo
Don’t have a alkalinity test kit but pH is 8.2
Calcium is 400 going to dose now

You need to get a test kit.
What is the par? How long has the tank been set up?
I don’t think that light will be enough.

If it keeps falling then I would place it on a rock on the bottom of the tank. Once the byssal threads attach then it can be easier to move the clam around. Maximas really do need a lot of light.

I’ve got it in a spot now that it’s stable but if it begins to attach itself wouldn’t it be harder to move?
