Brittle star help!

Anyone have any idea what’s happening to my GF’s Brittle Star?? I can’t find anything on the top Center opening... I can’t imagine this is normal.

there was only i tiny hole in the top this morning and now it’s completely exposed.

I have one in my Reef. I’ve had him for about a year and a half and I’ve seen that before he’s still alive so I guess they’re OK? I think it has something to do with feeding...

Yes but the top of the center of mine “deteriorated” any ideas why?
