I had accidentally hit one of my hammers last week during a water change and the one branch broke off; it was a clean break though and all looked fine with the main hammer. I put the broken piece in my other tank. This morning I looked in my tank and I noticed that the main stem is breaking into pieces the entire way up to the main head. I checked all my parameters (below) and they’ve been stable now for months. I haven’t moved the location of my corals in over a year and haven’t changed up the flow. I’m unsure what’s causing hammers to be brittle. All my corals seem to be fine, except the brittleness of the hammers. Video was taken right before it broke off, showing video so you can see the flow (hammer that broke is on the left, to the left of the Duncan).

20 gallon - nitrates 11-12 - Phosphates ranges between .04-.07 - MG 1280-1300 - CA 385

Any advice Is appreciated.

I think you’ll be OK. I was cutting a hammer off a frag plug, skeleton very brittle, and it cracked vertically into three pieces. One piece had most of the polyps and the other two had a few. Mounted all three. The two smaller ones the polyps bailed. The lager one is big and healthy for the past 8 months. When it first happened I thought it was a goner. If the skeleton starts separating try some glue, not on the flesh. Good luck.
