Broken foam

Hello community,

This week I totally drained my tank and noticed that a foam that is under the tank (between it and the furniture) was not sharply adjusted. Then I tried to adjust it and accidentally broke it. May you tell me how important this foam is and what is this used for ? I also noticed that it was wet and salty. Could it be due to a water filtration, I'd love to know it before fulfilling it back .

It’s important as it gives your tank cushion between glass and wood/metal depending on stand to keep it from breaking and also helps it sit level. What concerns me is why it’s wet. I’d investigate that further. To make sure you don’t have a leak.
