I recently bought a secondhand Red Sea nano max G2 XL and unfortunately, I broke the stock mounting arm on the trip home. The pin snapped right at the part where the pin meets the arm.

I naïvely bought a Red Sea LED 90 universal mount thinking that universal meant it would work the same as the stock arm. That seems not to be the case.

Any tips?

Rough up the plastic with a file or grinder and use a 2 part epoxy to put it back together such as Jb plastic weld. Also clean it well with rubbing alcohol etc before gluing.

think the universal arm could work, but I’d double check the mounting dimensions before ordering it. Since the original pin snapped, I’d also have a look at the rest of the stock mount for any stress/cracks. If everything else is still solid, replacing just the broken part might be easier and cheaper than changing the whole arm. Maybe Red Sea support can also tell you if that pin is available separately

It’s actually not a pin it’s a molded part of the arm. I was able to get the replacement part for not a ton of money.

I preferred sticking to the stock arm because the nano max g2 has a switch box on the back which wouldn’t work with a universal mount. That switchbox is where the stock arm is mounted.

I’d probably stick with the stock arm too if the rest of it is still solid. Seems a shame to replace the whole mount over one broken piece. Hopefully Red Sea can supply that part separately
