I went down to my LFS this weekend and bought a couple of there brown Acros. These are wild colony. Can you tell me why they are brown. And what can I expect to happen with them if I am patient? I have them high in a 4 t5 ho frag tank. I will move them at some time into the display which runs 2 250 MH and some PCs. The reason I put them in the frag tank is to give them time to get acclimated to a lesser light before being moved into the display. What should I do with them? What can I expect? How long will I need to be patient?
Thanks
Mark

sounds like you are doing it right bro.. keep it in the frag tank under the low light for 2 weeks... if they survive and theres no rtn then move them to the halide but start off on the bottom or mid tank.. then another 2 weeks you can try moving them up to the top..

goodluck!

They might not ever color up that's the joy of wild acros... Most likely if they survive they will turn green then change or hold the green color...only time will tell...;)

+1 to the afore mentioned. And good luck with it, make sure your parameters are spot on too. Might run Alk around 9ish to help out.

Thank you for the reply. I have seen SPS like this more often than not and I just had to try and bring them back. Thanks again!!

Keep some pics of the grow out and keep us Updated how It goes... I have bought a few like that I call them Christmas presents... Just gotta let them unwrap lol...

If they do start turning white at the base do I have options? What is the best thing to do if they start turning white at the base?

Depends on if there bleaching or RTN. Bleaching just wait, Rtn frag it up. You might want ot frag a few pieces and put them in various places, this also releavs the stress.

Got some picture there? I sometime get browned out acro if it's a good size colony. I got a browned out colony once and it turn out to look exactly like a grapejuice acro! Actually have it next to a real grapejuice and it's a bit more colorful

Here are a couple pictures of my Brown Acros...

frag the first it looks like it's dying the second looks like it is recovering and 3rd just needs time to color up.... that's my opinion and what i would do with the 3 if they were mine...
