Hi all, I have been battling some algae recently and I thought that it may just be diatoms and would go away but seems to be getting worse. Can anyone confirm what type of algae this is? Will include photos of multiple areas of the tank.

I feel like I am seeing 2 different issues. One is a short fuzzy algae very common in new tanks. it looks like you have dinoflagellates growing on top of those.

Is the tank fairly new?

What is your PO4 and do you run GFO?

Thank you for the response. I currently do not have a way to test PO4 and do not run GFO. Tank is about a year and a half old.

Chemipure Elite contains ferric oxide (the FO in GFO) which allows it to absorb phosphates. My recommendation would be to not run it. Dino's tend to thrive in low PO4 systems. Hopefully, your PO4 will rise and the dino's will clear up on their own.
