Brown Jelly Infection

I recently purchase a small colony of yuma mushrooms. I had them for two week. Now I notice some of the polyps has brown jelly infection. The mouth is gaping as well. Does anybody know of a cure for this type of disease?

most of the time when yumas mouth gapes its a sign that its not doing good and eventually will die and melt...when u see they are getting that brown jelly like stuff theres nothing u can do...unfortunately:(

I've had several experiences with brown jelly. Although I haven't dealt with it and Yumas. I've had several LPS that I dipped with Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Cure and they turned around almost immediately. The recession stopped and they have healed completely. I don't know if it will work with Yumas but it did there. Just a thought...Good Luck!

This behavior is common in new Yumas and unfortunately is typically fatal. I think they are expelling their zooxanthellae. Try moving them to a shaded spot with a steady, gentle flow and see if the mouth closes up soon. Good luck.

I will try the tropic marin pro-lps.coral dip. I'm currently been adding kent marine iodine to my tank and hopefully it helps.

dont know if there is a cure , IMHO when things get to that point it appears to be ireversable You may wish to remove them from the colony to prevent stress to healthy individules however in my experance it appears to Not be contagious but a result
of prior factors & an indicator of what is to come so again in my opinion it is best to remove them to prevent stress from decaying pollops in close proxsimity to healthy ones

How are the shrooms doing?

Not too good. I did a tropic marin pro cure dip and coral rx dip as well didn't help. I have another red yuma mushroom in the tank as well and that one is doing fine.

The other thing I did that seemed to help was doing several water changes. I also used melafix at 1/3 to 1/2 strength before the water changes.. not sure if it helped though...

also make sure no detritus settles around the affected corals. seems to increase rate of infection!

well i have save other corals from brown jelly infection before but have never tried it on shrooms. On LPS I have used hydrogen peroxide and it has worked wounder for me,but like I said dont know on shrooms because I have never tried it on them before.
