Can anybody help me ID this strain of algae?
It is brown/red under my lights and appears more green in the sunlight. It is tougher to remove and slips out of my fingers easily during manual removal, anchors to rock very well and grows on SPS that otherwise appear very happy. Thin and hairy, don’t think it’s bryopsis. I have a sea hare that does not seem to be too interested in eating it. I also have another strain of GHA that is brighter green in color and easier to remove, but this red/brown is much more stubborn. It grows on the back wall and power heads to the point where I have to scrape and cyphon it once a week or so.
My tank is the IM Nuvo 30 gallon long (30L). I have recently had ostreopsis Dino (99% gone for almost two weeks) after a substantial nutrient spike back in Feb, and have been trying to get everything balanced for quite a while. NO3 is ~5 ppm and has been stable for a few weeks, PO4 is 0.07 and was fluctuating during the Dino outbreak but has been decreasing from 0.15 since 1 Aug. Alk 8.7, Ca 440, Mg 1365 and all have been relatively stable. Plenty of flow and filtration with efficient scaping. CUC ~8-10 hermit, ~5-7 assorted snails... about 1/3+ died during the Dino outbreak. Planning to get more soon upon strain ID.
