Brown Sand and Corals not growing

This is just my opinion but if you have snails that have died and algae in the tank you have nitrates and phosphates. There was a problem with some of the hanna regents that were bad on a different thread. You won't get a reading on phosphates as the algae is taking it in and expanding. Get new regents and recheck. Zoas do like a little nitrate so that shouldn't be a problem with them, it was probably too much light. Check for a pest like a nudibranch as they love to eat the zoas.

Ok how would I check for a pest?

Look for bite marks, white spots, tiny eggs or a group of zoas that just aren't opening. I would recommend dipping them for 5 to 10 mins and blasting them to see if anything comes off. Many threads about what products you can try for the dip.

Ok thanks. I'll check this weekend for pests and also adjust lighting and test magnesium.
