Brown stuff on wall hammer?

I can't see what you mean and that's not a bad photo. Can you highlight what you mean please?

I’ve just checked again and it seems to of gone now. Never noticed it have the raised lumpy bits apart from tonight. Couldn’t get the photo of the stringy brown bit but that’s gone now to.
 
To me that just looks like the mantle and the brown stringy stuff sounds like poo.
I'll take a pic of mine later when it closes so you can compare.
 
I'm afraid I've not been able to catch my wall hammer similar to yours in its retracted state, however, my gold one is at the minute, but it's not quite the same.

I will try and keep an eye out on the green one for you.
