I buy the prefilled di canisters for my 6 stage BRS rodi unit. Out of the 5 that I bought, 4 of them have been delivered with the Mylar packaging ripped, leaving the resin exposed to air. According to the BRS site, air exposure causes the di to deplete faster so I feel like I’m throwing away money buying the BRS canisters. Does anyone else have this problem?
I’m not confident I can pack the refillable di canisters tight enough. Any feedback on this?
What type of di resin do you use?

I use this Amazon product

If they are ripped you should get your money back.

I refill the canisters and pack down with a coral feeder (squirt bottle) from brs. I dont put much effort in packing down and it works fine.

Thanks for the reply. I emailed them about my last order and they shipped out one....which was also ripped. I don’t know if they’re shipping them like this or if it happens in transit.

Save yourself some money and just buy the package(s) of DI resin and pack them yourself. It's super easy at a fraction of the cost.

There is a video on BRS of how to pack it. They stamp it down then use a pee cup bottom to press it down. It’s not rocket science at all plus the media want to compress. You can do it!

They are trying too but the packs are coming ripped.

Where are you ordering from?

Something is definitely wrong if bulk DI from BRS is coming ripped. Sounds like someone is screening your mail/deliveries. Where are you located?

I buy them from BRS. Located near St. Louis so not a super long transit time from MN.

I just replaced both of my canisters yesterday and the ripped replacement from BRS came today. I assume that will be no good by the time I can use it. I guess I will try the bulk bag and get the refillable canisters and fill them myself next time.

Does anyone know if the resin exposed to air will change color like when its used in the rodi unit?

I’ve been getting the prepacked canisters, not the bag of bulk resin. Live near St. Louis...don’t think anyone is doing it on purpose...

You can get the exact same things on amazon for less. I run two and have two extras for swap out. The resin itself can be had for cheaper too if you buy the 5lb bags. Only way to go.
