Has anyone tried turning off their lights for 3 or 4 days to get rid of microalgae growing in the tank? Would it effect the zoas or other organisms like anemones, etc? And finally does it work? Thanks for any help/advice.

This will not harm corals anemones, etc., but it will usually do nothing to bryopsis. Try using kent tech m to raise your magnesium to 1800, that usually works, but be sure that you use kent tech m and raise it slowely.

Also you need to find the source that is fueling phosphates in your aquarium. What type of filtration do you have, how much do you feed, what is your bio-load, etc.? I know algae stinks so I hope you get it under control.
