FluxRx and Reefmat?

I have had a nightmare of a time with some sort of hair type algae. I’ve tried everything and I’ve seen some pics that lead me to believe maybe it’s bryopsis so I tried fluxRx treatments exactly as instructed twice to no avail. I turned off my skimmer and uv like it said but I have a reefmat and I honestly wonder if it filtered out the fluxRx before it had a chance to work. That stuff isn’t very soluble to begin with and I really wonder if I should try again and just take the fleece out and run with no filter for a couple weeks. Anyone have experience with this? Would it hurt anything to run no filter for that long?

No idea if the roller can remove the flux before it dissolves but I would just turn the roller off and let it overflow vs removing it.

PS. No mechanical filtration won't hurt for a while. I let my roller overflow when my nutrients get low. I also run a tank with no mechanical filtration as do many other people.
