BTA Hosting Size

I bought a very small rainbow BTA yesterday as a birthday present for myself and I would like to know how big it should be before attempting to host clowns in it. I don’t want to add my clowns to the tank yet just in case they try to host it while it’s still too small and end up stressing it out. It’s currently about an inch and a half - 2 inches wide right now.

Clowns will be hosted by even the smallest nem but you are right to be cautious. too small and they could end up annoying it into submission. How big are the clowns and what type?

Personally I would give the nem a couple of weeks to settle if it is new to the tank. Make sure it's settled in one place in the rock with it's foot firmly attached. I've seen very small nems hosting clowns and they struggle a little at the beginning but soon get used to the clowns as long as they're not too boisterous with it.

Yeah I was thinking about giving it about a month or so to grow out a bit and become better established before attempting to add the clowns. Thank you for the advice

I usually advise 2-3 times the size of a single clown. Larger still for a pair.
