BTA not footing?

Hello, we got this anemone at our local fish store, and it was footed on the rock at the store, and it seemed really healthy so we got it. They weren’t able to get it off the rock, so they sent us home with the rock. A couple days later it unfooted from the rock it was on and moved around. Now it is just unfooted, moving around if the clownfish pushes it. What should we do? Do you think the foot is damaged?

How long have you had it? If you just got it, it is normal for it to move around until it finds a place it likes. Just make sure your power heads are covered or turned off.

Or, the clownfish could be overly affectionate and bothering it. Maybe turn off the lights so the clownfish chills outs if that’s the problem.

If you bought the rock it was attached to and no one physically removed it I wouldn't expect the foot is damaged. They will move around until they find a place they like. They need fairly strong light so hopefully you can provide that. All you can do at this point is let it go and see where it decides to settle. As mentioned watch it doesnt get in a powerhead. Sometimes turning powerheads off can help them settle into a spot.
I also refrain from feeding new nems until they are attached and seem to be content in the spot for a while.

I just got a BTA, and they move around a lot more than I anticipated. I initially placed it on a rock, it let go and plopped onto the sand, so I held it on a little longer, and it was able to hold on, but then it immediately crawled around the rock to the backside where I could barely see it. Every morning is an exciting adventure where I get to hunt around the tank to see where he's gotten today.

Yesterday he was towards the topmost rock, nearly where I put him in the first place.

But for the first few days, to almost a week it really felt like he was finding a nice secure crevice where it could be left alone while it adjusted to the new tank environment.

But what should you do? I personally don't think it looks happy on the sand like that, so personally I would pick it up and hold it against a rock as close to right below your light and at the top of the tank and try to get him to hold on. It could take longer than you think. I think I had to hold my dude for maybe five or ten minutes before he was on there good. Then be prepared for him to move around until he's happy.

I’ve had it for about 2 weeks maybe 3. It was doing amazing for the first week or so, then it started to move around and then just let go. I’ll try turning off the lights to see if that helps

is there more flow where it seems to settle? they love high flow and bright lights, also a bit of dirty water too. just my 2 cents :)
