BTA Splitting?

So my BTA has been growing at a decent pace, then I come down and see it this morning stretched out sideways as though half its foot is trying to go the other way as the other half - is this the start of a split?

The left side of the foot is behind the left tentacles.

It is possible, but in my experience, when you are splitting a BTA it is closed, and after a few hours, you already have another BTA.

Oh, well then you have an extra home in case one day one of your Clowns wants to move into a nem.
