What is going on with my Hammer? Has had large bubble for about 1 week. Have had it for about 4 months without issue. Slow growing though..

I don't really have an answer for you, but these things usually just run their course and then disappear over time without injuring the coral in any way. Some people believe it's an indication that the heads might be splitting, but I've had a Euphyllia almost triple in size and never experienced anything like that before. A form of reproduction is another possibility too. GL.

Thanks cloak, anyone else have any experience with this? Should I think about a coral dip?

I have had corals develop very small air bubbles that will go away but I have never seen anything like that before.. Can you tell if it's a "gas" bubble or filled with fluid? I would not dip it just let it run its course, will be interesting to see what to does.

Same thing happened to my touch. It was a bubble that I could see all the way through to the skeleton. The bubble became the wedge between a split of a new head then went away.

I have heard that it's splitting when they form a bubble maybe someone with more experience can chime in on this.

I had this happen to a Favia one time. Nothing ever became of it though.

Interesting notes! I'll keep this thread going to show what happens. As of today it's still there.

Looks to be splitting, tough to see except at night when it starts to retract. Here's a picture:

What is growing on bottom of the hammer? Looks like a bacterial or fungal infection. Any thoughts from pic above?

My hammer has recently done this as well. It will be interesting to see what happens. I like the bounce hammer name! Lol. Sell it for thousands? ![emoji3]

I know this is an old post but my hammers, torches, and frogspawns have all done this in the past. I have a splatter hammer doing this very thing atm.
