Bubble Magus elite 7 skimmer

So I just got an Elite 7 skimmer But If I turn the gate valve either to right or left the Water level will only raise so far before dropping, Is the only way to regulate for a wet skim by use of air restriction. Sump level 10 inches. Please advise.I am used to classic series reef octo skimmers. They have gate valves thatt allow for higher water levels. I went with elite because of sicce pumps.

Have you checked to see if your skimmer is sitting in the correct water depth?
Is this skimmer brand new? If so then it might just be breaking in, it could take 2 weeks some skimmers right away.
