Anyone know why clowns suck on nems?

Anyone know why clowns suck on nems?

I've read that they do this to help build their immunity to stings and introduce themselves to the nem.

I see my clowns do this as well at night and I always thought it was to anchor themselves before bed....

I don't think it's to anchor. My orange snowflake has been doing it all day and night on the new new I added.

Hmm.. Your sunburst doesn't look like the other sunbursts I've seen (the original photo anyways). I'm sure it'll color up in no time! My nem came in brown from shipping and just feed and keep it happy and it should color right back up. :)

Yeah my nem lost a lot of colors but it's been a week since the photo and it's looking good color wise. Just need it to grow and intensify it's colors like when I first got it. Is it safe if my female clown sits in in and kinda covers 50% on the nem?

He looks fine...I would try to feed it a bit...maybe 1 time per week.

Clown shouldn't hurt it...i have a giant Clarkii that smashes mine constantly with no issues...I would only worry if it starts to steel the food from it instead of feed it...I had this issue with shrimp and had to switch to silversides to prevent that.
