I'm not really sure what causes the bubbles but a lot of mine have the bubbles. I have some that I bought from local reefers that weren't bubbly when I got them but they are now but again, I'm not really sure what's causing the bubbles. I'm glad though that they have the bubbles. :)

hmmm.. what are your observation Crooks? do you think they like more flow or less flow to have a better chance of them being "bubbly"?

No one knows what cause the bubbletips for sure. I have read that it is flow, that it extends it tentacles when hungry. If it has bubbles your lucky if not them your lucky because they are still beautiful creatures. One day you might come home and it has bubbles or vice versa.

Well I have no idea what causes it. I have had more btas than I can remember and been keeping them for like 25 years and have had some of them spawn regularly.

Just general observations: They seem to inflate less in really high flow and will seem to seek out areas with less flow.

They seem to inflate most without a clowns or any other host.

I really think when they are inflated they are more tender and damage easier so it would make sense.

So I think I figured out my problem with my RBTA. I recently put my biopellet reactor back online and the cheato has died out. My bet that has my tank bothered. My phosphate issue is also coming from there to I bet. What are yalls thoughts.

Thanks to this thread I requested my LFS to order in a new bubble tip shipment.

They get it tomorrow night... then I should own one by wed... very nice thread

Make sure to drip acclimate it over several house. But these thread has given me a idea for my next tank. Might try my hand at a plywood tank full of BTA and clowns. Maybe some anemone crabs and a few pistol shrimp. Need to find work first though. Lol
