I have no clue. My bta is almost 4 months old. Only moved to threaten a zoa with doom and gloom.
After I moved the zoas he went back to happy. Also on the bottom of my aquarium 28" from light source.

Give it time. Once you get one, you'll have a few, then a tank, then a system of them if you keep hanging around these hoodlums.

You've been warned.
I am in the mind set of a 40g for a bta system. They are full of awesome even if it comes in plague proportions!

You know what, from personal experience.
DO NOT buy wild anemones. If the seller does not know where it was collected or even if it was tank raised. Do not buy. A lot of wild anemones don't adjust to our reefs. You could get fortunate. But, who knows what those chances are?

Buy a bta from a breeder, grower. I had a wild green bta and it never showed signs of being sick, but withered away to nothing. Kept roaming and hiding. It devoured all of it's tentacles. Eventually shrinking to the size of a dime.

The one I have now was born in captivity. Doing very well. But, still morphing colors on me. This is the most fun I have ever had reef keeping. I like dull brown things and to watch to see if they will change. If not. I love them all the same.

Buy captive raised bubble tips if you are new to anemones. It is so well worth it.

I just ordered a light upgrade, hoping to get more color out of mine. Two splits last night! I think consistent feeding definitely encourages mine to split.

I got 1 rainbow bubble tip last year to see if I could keep one and now there's 14 in there. They won't stop splitting. And nobody around me wants any of them. To me it's a pia, won't put one in my big tank

Haha. At first it split a few times and I was like ok so there's 4, cool. Now their just taking over and I have to start plucking them. Wish it would have just stayed as 1 though. Hard to keep up with when they start splitting alot

This is why I want to setup a 40g. Only thing stopping me, my last 60g was very wobbly. Perhaps a badly designed stand. I worried too much it would just get pushed over. Once I get a light picked out, I'll get the system going. They can own it and I can have a peace of mind and enjoy watching them.

Of course, it will take time to cycle and let the system mature enough.

Having a tank dedicated to just nems with a good flow to watch them wave all day sounds pretty awesome. It would be clownfish heaven. My problem is they love the top of the rocks and when they open up they block out the light and it's mainly my mushroom tank so they block the mushrooms from getting the light, and I can't have that. If you end up setting up that tank post pics bc I'm sure it will be pretty awesome

Tip(s) for Nem keeping:
1- Feed them occasionally - I feed them littleneck clams from grocery store or frozen shrimp
2- Give them adequate flow & plenty of light.

I started with 2 and a pair of marroon clowns (coming up on 18 years old) and now have 23 (as of this AM)

Can someone tell me if this is a BTA. I was told it was and when I first got it, it looked like a regular BTA. But now it’s huge and really doesn’t look like a BTA. am I doing something wrong? I’ve had it for a bout 4 months.

the second pic is when I first got it. Also will these kill torches and hammers??

Very nice BTA , nothing wrong they look different in almost any tank , it can kill if it touches torches / hammers
