So some of you may have noticed my absence, I won't be offended if you didn't, the reason is my craptop died on me and I have had limited access onto here in the last month and a half. I've wanted a desktop gaming PC for ages and this is my excuse so I decided to take up the task of building it and sharing it with you all, tag along if you want.

I ordered the parts two days ago. The majority of the parts arrived today but I'm still missing my graphics card and CPU cooler so I can't started now, but they should be here by Wednesday. Here's what I have so far:

My full list:
GPU: Asus Gefore GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX OC Edition
- 1936 MHz Boost Clock
- 2560 CUDA Cores
- 8GB of GDDR5X memory
- 2 x HDMI 2.0 ports
- 2 x DisplayPorts
- 1 x DVI-D port
- Comes with free game (Watchdogs 2)
- Can empty any bank account in an instant
- RGB Lighting :D
CPU: Intel i7-6700K Skylake Processor
- 4.0 GHz Base Clock
- Overclockable
- Quad Core
- 8 Thread with Hyper-Threading
MOTHER BOARD: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
- Overclocking support
- GameFirst III (makes it so the network prioritizes my games over anything else going for better
- connection)
- DDR4 3400(OC) Support
- Has gamer in the name so it's obviously the best motherboard ever made
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 2 x 8GB DDR4 2133 RAM
- 2133 MHz
- Shiny red (for those of you who don't know computers red components are always the best always)
- 16 gigs in total
CASE: NZXT S340 Glossy White Steel ATX Mid Tower Case
- Great value
- Looks fantastic
- Good airflow
- Built for compatibility with my CPU water cooler
CPU COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 RL-KRX61-01 280mm AIO Water Cooler
- All in one, no plumbing required
- Great cooling
- 280mm radiator
- Easy mounting
- RGB Lighting :D
PSU: Corsair RM850X
- Gold Certified Efficiency
- Reliable, overall just a solid PSU
SSD: 1 x 250GB Samsung 850 EVO
HDD: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Drive
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 10 Home

TL;DR this PC is a monster

Tag along if you wish, I'll log the build process step by step so you might be able to learn something from this ;) If anyone is wondering why I'm building it, the reason people build computers is 1) to have full control over their machine and 2) the VALUE! Building a computer can save you hundreds of dollars and isn't as intimidating as it seems. I'm just a teenager, not a computer expert

nice components, going with liquid cooling from the pic on the ATX case?

Update:
My water cooler came in the mail today! I can technically start building now that I have a CPU cooler, but I'll wait it out a little longer, hoping to have my GPU before I put it all together.

Thermaltake coolant?

Come on where's the fun in that, you need to make a little bit of a mess?!?!

Some day I'll do a custom loop pc, for now the fun is playing games at max settings without leaking water on my power supply
But I guess it's nothing new for reefers to do amateur plumbing next to expensive electronics :p

@Shep seems like we have a fellow gamer in our ranks!

:D Always great to see a fellow gamer on here!! Very nice selection of parts, should be a good build. Here is a quick pic of mine (sorry for the bad quality)

You bet I'm a gamer, and if someone's got a GTX 1080 it's their responsibility to game on it!

Sweet build Shep, nice Zotac Extreme, what card is it? CPU?

Card is Amp Extreme 1070 (only game at 2k, 1080 would have been overkill...but man was I tempted to get it!) and CPU is the same as yours, Intel 6700K. What games are you planning on running?

Nice, I was going to get the 1070 Srix until I realized I miscalculated and had like $400 more than I thought I did. 1070 is definitely a fantastic card, and honestly with what I'm playing it would have probably been the wiser choice over the 1080:rolleyes:
CSGO, BF1, Fallout 4, Shadow of Mordor, Overwatch, Minecraft modded to oblivion, Rocket league, Skyrim, Watch Dogs 2 (came with my GPU ;)), Rainbow 6, some other stuff but these are the games that are sticking in my head. I don't own all of them but when I get some more money in the summer I'll shell it all out on those steam summer sales :p

Love Rainbow 6, it's such a good game! isn't steam the best, especially with the mega sales?

Well, I said I'd go through the build process step by step but it didn't work out. PC is built but I have no step by step pictures...
or graphics card
I'm sorry if anyone was actually hoping I would, but I don't think anyone was so whatever. It was just stressful enough (handling a motherboard is stressful enough for the first time, let alone photographing it).
Feelsbad, but the PC works perfectly! Now I just need to wait for my GPU which is supposed to come next Thursday.
