Any quick and easy websites where I can type in the dimensions and get the lay out and material list?

I have a existing deck that I want to add on to, and I have to remove some of the old as it was damaged.

SO I'm going to basically add a 16' wide x 13' deep deck

I'm trying to figure out how many post I'm going to need

Once I can figure out the post then I will be able to figure out the rest

Your post spacing is dependant on post material and dimensions of the post. Any where from 5 to 8 foot is pretty std. Height also need to be figured in when deciding the post dimensions

For post spacing first you need to figure out the size of your joists, the thicker the joist the fewer the posts.
2x6 is what is there now, the section is just a 16'x13' addition, its not as easy as it sounds. There was a addition put on I found out today when removing the old boards. The original section is still rock solid, I just want to tie into it

4"x4" post and the deck is 16" off the ground

Maximum joist span of a 2X8 is 10’ You can cantilever (overhang) 18" on both ends. I would double beam the posts if you cantilever. That will get you your 13 feet. The picture shows one cantilever
Not sure the 2x6 joist span

+1 the above, also check for local codes, here folks will not tie in to their existing instead just build next to it so the structure isn't tied into the house and no new permits are pulled
