After lots and lots of research, i have decided to build a 20 foot L x 2 foot W x 18"H fish tank. ill be bracing the top every 3 feet (approx), and the glass will be 12mm front back and sides with 15mm base. Safety factor according to calculations is 5. As i am a welder ill be building my own stand. If anyone has any notes or advice they would like to share, please feel free.

I only run large tanks and though mine at Tens foot was long - good call on bracing as it will need it. I am curious as to your plans for a sump as I have a 6 foot sump and can imagine a longer one

I will be using 2 x Aquael hypermax canister filters as i already have them , plus if need be to increase water flow ill use a wave maker

I think many people questioning the flow setup makes sense. Nothing would do much more than 6 ft without making the first 2 ft unusable. Basically for a reef you might need 15 Nero 5 s on the back.

I do actually have 3 Aquaels if need be. but totally understand what you are saying though, without flow filtration is certainly hindered

Yes, only because i already have them , Plus the fact i know nothing about sumps , only that the chance of leakage is greater than canisters. (please feel free to correct me if im wrong though)
