Plumbing question which has properly been answered time and time again .
I have mod my biocube 29 removed the back wall and am going to pick up the eshopps eclipse s overflow box now it comes with a 60mm drill bit for a 1.5 inch bulk head now can I use that same size drill bit for my return or should I go smaller I have a sicce 2.0 return pump and will be using a gate valve to be able to dial It in what's people's advice

You definitely don't need a 1 1/2 inch return in a biocube, when I drilled mine I put in a 3/4 inch and reduced it with a 3/4 to 1/2 fitting which I'm getting more than enough flow through

Now if I put a gate valve on there would that not be just as good as going with a 3/4 bulkhead ?

The only thing that I would be concerned about is slow flow through a 1 1/2 inch pipe and stuff that may build up in it over time. Other that that it would probably work ok
