bully Banggai in timeout

I bought three, but one was bullied immediately and died. The second one held its own for a while, but eventually, the main bully went after it again. I managed to trap the bully, and it's currently in the sump.

If I leave it there for a while to let the victim heal, is there any chance things will mellow out once I reintroduce it? Or is that wishful thinking? I'm sure some of you have dealt with this before. Also, it took days to catch him in the trap—I'm worried if he goes back to bully mode, he won't fall for the trap a second time. Thanks!

The sump guy will probably be bullied once introduced to the DS again, how big is the tank? I keep 6 of them in my 140gal and they only fight when they breed.

But i also have done the exact same thing you have in the past and bought 3 for a 40 gal tank and same thing happend to me as it has for you, my conclusion is lack of Space in my case and that tank size should only house one or a mated pair.

140 gallon. and in hindsight, i think the one banggii was in limp mode at onset as the nassarius snails emerged and wetn after it at first introduction before i knocked them away and it went to higher water. which is crazy to think they can sense an ill fish. the one in the tank is smaller and missing a lot of fin right now. i think smaller as he was chased off the food + stress.

Something i built myself no brand no nothing just my own craft

Ah could be why it went badly, but for your size i would get a bigger group and try get them all at the same size and let them pair off which was my original idea but since they pretty much school togethur most of the time, i didnt bother remove any of them since they still get along after 2 years possibly the presence of bigger Fish in the tank make them less sggressive or the fact that they grew up togethur. Possibly a combo of both

I got mine when they were about half a inch or less.

Yeah my lfs charge arround the same but i maniged to haggle myself a group discount, maybe yours is open to the idea as Well, basicly i bought 4 and got 6 give or take 5-10 dollar
