Burnt tips on sps

I have a 180 gallon mixed reef in the past 2-3 months I have 3-4 acropora colonies with burnt tips peramiters seem good any ideas why this has happened to just a few acroporas?

Lighting, with PAR numbers
Flow in tank.

Sounds like starvation then. How much are you feeding the 180 each day?

zero nutrients is killing them, get them up some..

i also have experience with alk swings it causes burnt tips...

I've been there. 0 nitrates and phosphates is the cause. Stop running GFO. Dose some nitrates and phosphates. If you are scared of an algae out break, keep them low. They don't need to be high. Now the bad news. You may have corals die 6, 9 months later because of this. I didn't keep up with swapping out the T5 bulbs. Corals looked bad and stopped growing. I thought something got in the water. Did massive water changes. Then one day I found in my notes it was over 2 years since I changed bulbs. I changed all the bulbs at once. A couple of weeks later all my SPS had burnt tips. Lost almost all SPS. Lesson learned.

Do you have a LFS you could start going to for advice and knowledge ? It seems you could really use a good mentor and direction to follow. Some LFS's are an awesome wealth of knowledge and would love to help you get a handle on things.

No LFS near me at all there is one 35 miles away and I wouldn't trust there advice or buy anything there It's that bad.

Sorry to hear that dieselkeeper , I did stop my gfo a week or so ago and maybe just maybe things are slowly looking a little better. Fingers crossed
