I recently got a button coral and noticed that the mouth looked like it has a small hole. Not sure if this is a bad coral. Got it for $50 so it was a steal. Got home and noticed this. Wasn’t sure if it’s normal it’s been like this for a week. This coral fine or is it gonna die?

Sure don't look happy. What's your last water test results, what lights was it under and what's it under now, and how's the flow where it is?

Parameters:
No nitrate nitrite or ammonia
Phosphates .08ppm

Lights are black boxes. Grow all types of corals, sps softies, zoas, lps. Never had an issue. I have another button that seems fine and a warpaint scoly. Got them all the same time so not sure what’s going on. Low light, it’s on the sand bed, low flow it’s under the power head in the corner of the tank next to Duncan’s and some zoas.

They need nitrate. How much nitrate do you really have? Like on salifert or Red Sea?

Not sure don’t have a good test kit for nitrate. Use api. Only have good test kits for alk, phosphates, calcium and magnesium. I probably should invest in a better test kit. My only concern is that it was like this when I purchased. I contacted the guy but he’s ghosting me. So I’m assuming he knew there was something wrong with it and that’s why he sold it to me for $50
