My button scrolly looks really unhappy. I worry it is going to die. Is there something I can do to help it? Other coral looks fine during the day. Expect the yellow plate coral.

I dose all for reef, water change once per 2 weeks. I got a mini skimmer, and the light is AI Prime.

My 25-gallon tank:
Alk: 8.2
Ca: 380
Mg: 1280
Temp: 79

If this is your first time seeing it like that, could be just retracting to expel waste or food. Wish I had a picture of my aquaman when it does that to show you. It reduces size by more than half

In fact the more I look at the pic it seem to be just expelling. If this is pic today, check it out tomorrow and see that it’s fattened back up

My green Scoty has a white area. It gets bigger as it expands when eating: I’ve been told it’s normal. The guy is healthy otherwise. It can be stretching an area of zooxanthalae on its tissue. I wouldn’t worry. Sucks bc it’s a blemish lol: but it’s healthy otherwise

Do you feed the button scoly? These guys, and full size scoly, LOVE to eat. It’s an important way to supplement them and ensure they are getting why they need. Same thing with the plate. Target feeding 2-3x a week at night

Yours looks amazing. I feed once every two weeks. I think I saw my clownfish picking on it, so that could be the reason.

That absolutely can be part of, or all of the problem. I would also be cautious / suspicious of the nearby torches

Here’s another scoly of mine. I’m told it’s “not a button” and is a baby scoly. But I suspect it’s a button

I want more scoly, but they are so pricey…

I guess after I feed the coral, the fish start picking on it to try to get some food out…
