I’d love to get new coral but I plan on moving within the year and am just wondering if it’s worth it because as I know “colonies” have a rougher time in transit than frags. Won’t be far just a simple 30 minute drive. Also how big is the shock when moving a tank and having all new water and sand?

Why do you need all new water and sand? Get a pile of buckets for water and a couple of bins for rock and at least part of your sand. If you're within 30 minutes it'll only be trip or 2 in a van, and a lot less stress on your live stock. In a year your livestock will be hardier as well. Always a little sketchy pulling new items from the LPS for the same reason if it's moved 3 times in the last month that's stress.
