I like this cabinet because i can store my ato in the bottom and display some random things in the top. I know it says each shelf can hold 51ish lbs but if i add 2x2 or 2x4 on the bottom, think that would support a 10 gallon ato?

Any thoughts would be helpful...

If the bottom shelf is supported by wood on the edges and not just pins or screws you should be fine

well, it looks like the front and rear of the cabinet bottom are supported by footers:

So, I’d say this would work with plywood over the top of the cabinet bottom, cut to full depth so it also lands on the above pictured parts!

The cabinet bottom is just a thin-ish sheet of particle board… this said, lumber under it, and/or plywood over it (full depth so it lands on the footer parts) should be plenty for 80-100lbs!

what if i didn't put the bottom part on and just had it sit on the base? It says its all solid pine.

That would probably work, too!

Consider adding some feet, sliders, etc to the bottom of the cabinet’s bottom plank just so water trapped down there can actually evaporate, if you go this route!

Alternatively, you could add the bottom part, and just stick something of equal height under the cabinet bottom, just to prevent it from sagging!

okay, I figured it out. I'm going to put the base down and just screw in some 2x4s from the inside so screws heads will be inside but covered and it won't look bad. Got it, thanks!
