Hi everyone! I got out of the hobby for a while but I’m testing the waters (haha) again with a small freshwater tank. Going to try low-tech planted with a betta. The best location now would be on my kitchen counter underneath cabinets.
First, does anyone have tanks underneath wood (or probably some faux-wood) cabinets? Is that tank humidity underneath a problem for the cabinets?
Assuming that’s OK, I’ve got a height issue because of the cabinets as well. I like the sleek look of AIO tanks, and want a solid lid to help with evaporation and to keep a betta from jumping. I bought the Fluval Flex 2.0 9-gallon tank. I knew I’d need to pull the tank out beyond the cabinets to reach the back chambers but after filling it with water, I realized it’s just too heavy for me to do that. Even then the lid doesn’t open all the way because of the cabinet.
Does anyone have suggestions for a tank between 5-10 gallons I could put under cabinets here? I was looking at AquaTops, but they all seem to have a gap around the lid I’m not sure how to cover nicely. I was also looking at the Fluval Evo and Spec, for which I’d need to put something to cover the holes in the lid. Any thoughts?
