Cable guard?

Hope this isn't a stupid ? but how do you attach cable guard? Maybe I am stupid, lol

There are two variations, one sort of zips on and is on the wider format cables, this style looks more like a spine, then their is the coil type on narrower cables and that one winds on, you start on one end and spiral it around the cable.

Is there somewhere I can purchase just the cable guards? Preferably the ones you spin on.
