Cade 900 S2 Potential seam issue?

Hey, just recently bought this tank from the first owner and didnt realize it until now. It was full of water when i bought it and had no leaks

So, this looks a LOT like a manufacturing defect… these tanks have their silicone laid via machine to get precise bead thickness and no internal silicone squish-out to wipe…

It looks almost like the silicone applicator stopped a tiny bit short of that corner!

— Good news, though! It still holds water, and this can be repaired fairly easily!

— if it was mine, I’d clean that corner very thoroughly, then silicone in a small square pane of glass, maybe 1”-1.5” square, 1/2” (~12mm) thick! This will bond to bottom, front, and side pane simultaneously and bridge that silicone void with fresh glass!

Remember that cleaning is 99% of the battle here, use 90+% isopropyl alcohol (wetted rag, not pouring it in the tank!) to thoroughly scrub both the tank glass in that area, and the new glass square… even a fingerprint will affect the silicone’s bond strength!

As for silicones? I recommend ASI 502 aquarium silicone sealant, or Momentive RTV108 for this job!

— you’ll be much happier with your results if you use masking tape around where the new glass will go, you pull this tape within the ~10min tooling/handling time of the silicone, before it skins over, to get crisp, professional silicone termination lines!
