I'm noticing a trend where the Calcium is high and the Alkalinity is low.
I've been dosing Kalkwasser about 6 months, but am thinking its time to get the pH and alk higher without raising calcium. (I am relatively new).
Looks like my options are sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate to raise alkalinity.
Sodium carbonate is preferred due to its rise in pH.
Am I missing other options here?
My thought is to get another versa dosing pump, use BRS soda ash mixed with RODI, and turn the Kalkwasser down 10%.

Ca - 480
Alk - 7
pH - 8.1
NO3 - 18.2
PO4 - .08
Mg - 1390
125g mixed reef trying to go acro-dominant.
All Hanna testers, except Alk and Ca are Fritz.

Anyone else have a suggestion? I appreciate the advice!

Both the alk and calcium are fine, and if you want alk higher, you can add pure alk (such as baking soda, or more kalkwasser. Using the latter, raising alk to 8 dKH will only boost calcium to 487 ppm. I recommend 7-11 dKH and 400-550 ppm calcium.

Interesting that Ca is ok up to 550, Randy. I think that makes this easier...just increase the kalk!
But why is 440 the industry standard for 'high' if there is no danger from elevated calcium in that range?

I do not know if it is “standard”, or why people recommend it. It is a bit higher than average ocean water which is 420 ppm.
