I have a 240g tank, 80g sump and 40g and using saturated kalk would only replace about 25-30% of what I need to replace each day. The coralline and clams consume a LOT of carbonate, calcium and magnesium - these dwarf corals demands IME. I started over with frags this summer, but in another year, that percentage will probably be down to about 10%, or so... hard to tell.

There is no chance that I want organic carbon entering my tank. Too many unintended consequences in a reef tank for me.
