Trying to test for pH and it is higher than the range of the Hanna test (8.6).

Diluted sample by half with RO (assuming 7.0) and got 8.4.

What is the math for calculating the actual pH?

pH will rise on dilution of seawater with fresh. Not intuitive, but its a known effect for known reasons.

I also think pH 8.6 is unlikely to be accurate.
I am using it in a non-standard seawater sample, I have added things that raise the pH and I want to see where it is at. Sadly I got rid of my Salifert pH kit.

Ah, the only good answer is a meter that can read higher.
