Caleb's first reef tank

Looking pretty pretty!

I once had a Cocker Spaniel that we named honey. When we went to pick her out, the breeder showed us her mom. Her name was Pretty Pretty. He said she was so pretty he had to call her that twice!

Both tanks honestly make me happy and are pretty in their own ways. Wish the uglies would go away....but that is a patience thing more than anything else. Crazy how big and happy all the anemones are getting in her tank when I can't keep anything beyond a 'starter coral' happy in mine. Life works in mysterious ways.

Funny on the dog name too, our boxer's name is Honey!

Long time since I've been back! Baby is here, 3 weeks old and keeping us busy. Both tanks are still going strong.

My hair algea problem has been getting better week by week. I think the manual removal as well as the cleanup crew additions have finally helped in turning the tide.

New fish got here today too!

Went with a smaller Tomini tang and also a yellow watchman goby. I have a mccoskers wrasse that didn't pass final QT with Dr Reefs so will have that in a week or two.

Goby is hiding well, but he was settling in well before I lost sight of him. The tang is already picking at algea and settling in well with the clowns. Some nipping between the larger clown and the tang, but no chasing or anything that is leading me to be concerned.

Also got a good picture of one of the porcelain crabs that came in on my live rock almost a year ago!

Nice patch of GSP 👍🏻
I have a much larger patch on a rock that the pice on the back is fragged from! Will have to get a picture to show the growth that has had. Was a tiny little colony when I got it from my LFS, has basically covered the entire rock it is on now!

Tanks are doing well!

We finally removed the Mantis shrimp in my wife's tank...he had killed basically every snail that we put in there...

We have a pretty severe cyano problem in her tank. I will be honest in that I have not been on top of testing the tanks and have been going on autopilot. Hoping some additional flow and then getting back into more regimented water testing will help in making slow corrections if there is an issue with parameters. The anemones are very happy so numbers can't be completely insane but anything is possible right? :)

My hair algae problem continues to be that...a problem. Manual removal and letting the CUC do their thing is slowly making progress.

Tang is settling in well. Had some fighting between the larger clown and the tang for a day or so, but they swim and eat together now when being fed. Tang is picking at algae in the tank too!

Still waiting on my wrasse, hoping to get him soon!

Baby was 6 weeks on Monday. Love watching her grow, hopefully getting ourselves out of the trenches a bit. She has an allergy/sensitivity to milk as well as reflux which has made her a true handful on top of just being a newborn. Now that we are on top of that with a hypoallergenic formula, we seem to be a much happier baby :)
