I haven’t bought the extension cables to run them along my euro.. one of these days… I tried to eliminate those pumps all together but I can’t the tank is too big to get all the flow from one end.

The tank is beautiful, and I like the lighting idea, I may use that. Yeah, with tanks that long there really isn’t much choice but to run the extra pumps unless you put a wave maker on the overflow end.

Otherwise peninsula owner’s biggest issue is flow while not trying to clutter up the tank with power heads.

You can always get a regular tank and just cut the black vinyl away from the back glass.

If you can, please use customer design.
It will be much more flexible in sump design.
If you can’t, both waterbox and redsea were good for reeftank.

For the light hanging, you can try to cover the light by box like me. If possible, with decoration method will be more beautiful.

Or you can use AI HMS mounting kits. However, still suggest you to cover the light. It’s too shiny for human eyes.

Don’t need to, every big brand uses vinyl to wrap the back. It’s super easy to just peel it off. Maybe even replace with dark blue vinyl to make it look like deep sea (although the blue lights against the white background has the same effect).

With the peninsula, aside from an extra long side of low iron glass, you are paying for the extra doors on the 'back'. Not needed if it is up against a wall.

So I’m currently shopping for a new tank/system. I’ve settled on Waterbox. In Canada, we are limited to Waterbox or Red Sea. IM’s Canadian distributor is an online retailer that marks up the tanks 100%, so I won’t consider IM. As much as Joe is the absolute best and I’d love to have his glass cages tank, it’s just cost preventative for me up here in the Great White North.
I have two in mind, one is a standard layout, the second is a peninsula. What i like about the pen style is the 360 viewing, however I see some issues.

One, if it’s next the wall, how do you scrape the glass on the wall side? Even with a magnetic scraper, without having 4 foot long arms, it seems like it would be a thing. How far off the wall are you positioning it?

Two. Getting the lights mounted but still having a clean look. I can’t hang wires, moreso I don’t want to, so is there a way to do this so my AI Hydra 32s can be mounted without cables in sight?

If you have a photo of your peninsula setup, that’s not in a store, please share. The standard back mounted overflow just seems like it’s easier to setup and look clean. I could be wrong.

Waterbox. We designed/assembled the light shade after Japanese Shoji Doors. The tint makes them look blue. They are actually white with a tan frame.

If you go this custom route there are a lot of overflow options. You might also like an internal corner overflow. I think your floating reef vision is cool and if you can stand to see a couple of wave makers on the back glass you’ll eliminate a lot of the flow challenges that peninsula tanks have.

I’d check out Planet Aquariums or Glass Cages for a fully custom build.

If it were me I would only go with a pen style if you have the overflow side against a wall. I feel that the flow is challenging to nail down in a pen. I have just a 9 gallon pen and getting the flow dialed in is a challenge. I do have a lot of live rock in my tank. Nothing beats a pen tank if you have the right space to view it comfortably from 3 sides.
