I have a new idea for a wavemaker and would love to hear your opinions! The idea is to make it the same shade of purple as coraline algae, so it will blend right into the tank background. I am thinking a custom purple color- with a blend of white flakes like the coraline in the photo. So, what do you all think? Great idea, or ugly? Reply here and let us know!!!

I think it can go both ways, I would find it ugly cause the Back of my tank is all black and I always scrape off any coraline algae but for someone who has it covered in coraline it may look cool cause you may not see it

I see- maybe I can make it optional then. Right now we are feeling the idea out and need to figure out what it would cost to implement.

If you just fill the tank with beautiful coral no one will notice the pumps. That was always the way I hid my equipment.

Ha! And long time no see Greg- I remember you from a few years back when I was just starting out.

For people with white backgrounds, make a white pump with a white cord, it's work really well with vortechs for minimalistic setups.

It seems that coralline varies from tank to tank in the shade and intesity. I think would be hard to get it to match enough people's tank colors and if off shade it would stick out a lot.

Leave'em black. If someone likes the coraline look they can just let it grow instead of cleaning it off. With my black background they are hardly noticeable until the coraline starts to grow - then I have to clean them.

I think you should try it! Pumps usually stick out and look kinda ugly. If you could camo them up then that would be awesome!

How about something like the tunze units (the enclosures). The ones the kind of look like a rock.
I am thinking of something like that- but- it adds weight, cost and is bigger than the pump in the first place. That might be something we will offer too- a magnetic frag rock that goes around the pump. It would have to be a faux rock to reduce weight.

Haha yeah I was just having some fun on photoshop.
It's a cool idea for sure. Though, how you can pull it off without painting?
