So my stupid BTA decided suicide was a good path for life and jumped into my power head. Snafu for a bta I guess. I came down to a cloudy mess one morning.

I had a beautiful tenuis colony that was finally settling in and doing very well.

did a series a large water changes to save all my coral from the BTA and all survived but the tenuis shed all its skin and I just have a white Skelton left mostly

I was about to throw it out but it’s little feather duster feeders are still going trying to collect nutrients

sooo? Is it possibly for it to grow new skin / color after losing all its flesh?

I didn’t think so but I wanted to ask before I throw it in the trash

It's a two way street it definitely can come back and it can also go poof bye, bye...I had a colony RTN but a small portion survived and is still living...in the same breath I've had a colony RTN and disappear forever...luck of the draw I guess.

I had this frag. Was getting white Plus had green algae starting to cover it from the bottom up. The white spots are empty holes where polyps used to live. The color in first pic is just light. Thought it was dead.

moved it to a better spot and took it out to brush the algae with hydrogen peroxide.
Algae did die.

Fast forward 2 months. It’s actually dark purple under lights. Polyp extension. And tissue regrowing over dead part. Even had some really vivid green fluorescent streaks. Can’t see it in the pic. Not a full recovery yet but it gets better all the time and is night and day to me. So I’d say it ain’t over til it’s over.

Don't remove it until it's 100% white without any polyps showing. A bleached coral will still have the distinctive coral smell when you remove it, a dead coral won't.

Even if you're sure it's dead, give it a few weeks before you toss it in the trash, you never know if a polyp or two is still alive at a growth tip.

It’s dead and just falling apart in the tank. I tried to drag a tiny part that was still healthy but ended up losing the colony.

if the polyps are still extending there is a chance. if everything looks thin, hollow and algae is forming after a few days following the event you might be out of luck.
apples to oranges but i have a $" circular monti cap coming back from stripping down to a single polyp and its managed to regrow the entire perimeter back.
