I thought this might be a shrimp, but then I noticed the long legs in the back...

Crustacean part of the Arthropod group (anything that must shed it's exoskeleton/molt to grow) so yes in a way. Most are harmless, they are Detritivores. You'll often see them eating dead or decaying tissue as well.
 
Those are probably Collinista.:bounce: Another common hitch-hiker.
